On Friday, February 11th, 2010, students from the University American College Skopje attending the subject Environment and Sustainable Development with Professor Zoran Sapuric participated in the project Climate Change as an Opportunity for Sustainable Development supported by World Bank Office in Macedonia.
The speakers with presentations consisted of the following:
- Professor Zoran Sapuric: “Climate change as a global problem”
- Arijan Toska (USAID): “Introduction and presentation of the project”
- Metodija Sazdov: “Role of public awareness in preventing climate change”
- Jana Spirovska: “Students and environmental education”
The students had the opportunity to take part in an interactive discussion with the speakers to exchange their views about global environmental problems and compacting with the negative effects of climate change on a global level for European and within Macedonia. Also, the students had the opportunity to be familiarized with the new policies and activities in the field of protection and improvement of the environment in developed states.
The students discussed about the negative impacts of greenhouse gases, specifically from carbon dioxide, nitrous dioxide, and other greenhouse gases and the perspectives of the UN Framework Climate Change Convention and Protocol of Kyoto.
