UACS Panel Discussion with the Minister of Economy, Mr. Fatmir Besimi
Today UACS hosted the first of the series of events called UACS Panel. The objective of the panels is to steer a discussion on open and current issues in Macedonia, as well as to promote the research of the academic staff, hence both to contribute to the shaping valuable and sustainable recommendations for the policymakers in the country.

The first guest of the UACS panel was Dr. Fatmir Besimi, the Minister of Economy. Other panelists were our professors, Dr. Nikica Mojsoska-Blazevski and Dr. Tome Nenovski, all moderated by our research coordinator, Dr. Marjan Petreski.

Plentiful and interesting thoughts were shared on the panel. The minister articulated the role of the so-called 7i as a source of the new growth in Macedonia: integration, institutions, infrastructure, investment, export, innovation and inclusivity, while our professors accentuated, for the post-crisis new model of growth, the following: export produced with more domestic and less imported inputs, the regional trade and financial integration, the further improvement of the business environment, the bridge over the rigidities on the labour market, export product differentiation to alleviate exposure to foreign shocks, as well as the macro-stability and the harmonization of the macro-policies. Useful policy recommendations emulated from these thoughts.
