Q: WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP?
A: An internship is a period of on the job training; a first-hand opportunity to see what the workplace is really like.
Q: WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF AN INTERNSHIP?
A: An internship gives you the chance to 'try out' the workplace, to better understand what you like and don't like to do, to help you answer the question 'what job would you like have'?
Q: DO I HAVE TO DO AN INTERNSHIP?
A: Yes, according to the Law on higher education in the R.M. all students starting their higher education from fall 2010 onwards will have to do at least one month of internship in every academic year.
Q: WHEN CAN I DO AN INTERNSHIP?
A: From the beginning of the academic year you can start your internship at latest one month prior to the beginning of the next academic year.
Q: HOW CAN I FIND AN INTERNSHIP?
A: You can visit the Career Center at UACS and you will get help with finding an internship and preparing for the internship.
Q: CAN I FIND MY OWN INTERNSHIP POSITION?
A: Yes, but you will have to collect a set of documents that will record your internship before you begin the internship.
Q: HOW LONG SHOULD THE INTERNSHIP LAST?
A: According to the Law on higher education, the internship should last at least 30 days.
Q: IS THE INTERNSHIP WITH PAY?
A: It is up to the company, the internship can be with or without pay.
Q: ARE THERE INTERNSHIP CONTRACTS?
A: According to the law, an internship is not a job. Rather, it is governed by an agreement set up between the university and the host company. The Career Center will help you to prepare all the necessary paperwork.
Q: HOW MANY INTERNSHIP CAN I DO?
A: During your studies you may participate in more than one internship. However, only one per academic year will count for academic credits.
Q: DO I GET ACADEMIC CREDITS FOR DOING AN INTERNSHIP?
A: YES! Students receive academic credits according to the curriculum.
Q: SO I HAVE TO DO A PROJECT DURING THE INTERNSHIP?
A: A project during the internship is only required in the 3rd and 4th year at UACS.
Q: WHAT PAPERWORK MUST I HAND IN AFTER MY INTERNSHIP?
A: At the end of the internship you must bring the following documents to the Career Center:
o A diary containing all your work tasks during the internship
o Final internship evaluation form, completed by you
o Final internship evaluation form, completed by your Company Tutor
Certificate stating that you have completed your internship. You will be provided with a standard one by the Career Center although the company may give a separate one to you.
Q: WHAT SHOULD I DO TO JOIN UACS BUSINESS COUNCEL?
