Founded in 1987, the European Forum for Entrepreneurship Research (EFER) fosters and promotes research and teaching in the field of entrepreneurship at institutions of higher education across Western and Eastern Europe.
European universities must play a key role in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, helping students learn not only how to start, but also how to grow, enterprises. Technical and scientific schools, in particular, provide potential breeding grounds for high technology/high growth companies or “gazelles”.
Entrepreneurship education has grown significantly in Europe since 2000 and strong growth is expected to continue. However, more needs to be done, particularly in:
Faculty training and development
Outreach to and engagement with business leaders and entrepreneurs
Curriculum and course material development
Cross-border faculty collaboration and exchange
