Future of Mental Health and Wellbeing in the Digital Era: A Foresight Workshop for Psychology Students

The workshop “Future: Mental Health & Wellbeing in the Digital Era” was organized on the occasion of UNESCO World Futures Day and on the occasion of the event of the Chamber of Psychology: “Days of Psychology” and engaged third- and fourth-year psychology students in an interactive exploration of how digital technologies are shaping present and future mental health and wellbeing.

Through foresight-oriented activities, students examined emerging signals such as AI-mediated mental health support, digital fatigue, online identities, and ethical issues related to data, privacy, and autonomy. Working with future scenarios set in 2035, participants reflected on potential risks and opportunities and discussed how psychological practice, digital design, and policy choices could contribute to healthier digital futures.

The workshop was led by Prof. Marina Andeva, Prof. Ana Tomovska Misoska, and Prof. Dimitrinka Jordanova Peshevsk, aimed to strengthen future literacy, critical reflection, and student awareness of anticipatory approaches to mental wellbeing, in line with UNESCO’s mission to promote inclusive and forward-looking thinking and future profession as psychologists.
