Bridging Theory and Practice: Exploring the Role of the School Psychologist
On October 28, 2026, fourth-year Psychology students at UACS attended an insightful workshop as part of their Educational Psychology class, organized by Assist. Prof. Natasha Angjeleska, PhD, at the Department of Psychology. The session was led by Petar Daneski, a UACS postgraduate student and practicing school psychologist at the American High School Skopje (AHSS), who brought valuable academic and professional perspectives to the classroom.
The workshop offered students an inside look into the role of the school psychologist, exploring the everyday responsibilities and challenges of the profession. Petar discussed how school psychologists work with students, teachers, and parents to support students' well-being and create positive learning environments, while also addressing common misconceptions and separating myths from the realities of the field.
An engaging part of the session involved role-playing exercises based on real-life professional situations, allowing students to step into the role of school psychologists and navigate challenging interactions with students, teachers, and parents. Through these practical activities and open discussion, students had the opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with the realities of professional practice.
We sincerely thank Petar for sharing his knowledge and experience and for giving our students a valuable insight into the meaningful impact of school psychology.
