Exploring Human Rights Protection in Europe: Guest Lecture by the Council of Europe at UACS
On Monday, 26 October, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Oleg Soldatov, Head of the Council of Europe Programme Office in Skopje, as a guest lecturer at the University American College Skopje (UACS), within the course International Organizations.
Mr. Soldatov introduced students to the role and work of the Council of Europe, with particular emphasis on the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and its contribution to protecting fundamental rights and freedoms across Europe.
Through concrete cases and practical examples, students explored the application and interpretation of Articles 8, 9, and 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, addressing the right to respect for private and family life, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, and freedom of expression.
The lecture provided a valuable opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world cases and better understand how international human rights protection operates in practice.
Our sincere thanks to Mr. Soldatov for sharing his expertise, engaging with our students, and contributing to an enriching academic experience!
