The School of Foreign Languages at University American College Skopje (UACS) actively participated in the 14th International Conference of the English Language Teachers' Association of North Macedonia (ELTAM MK), held on 16–17 October 2026 in Skopje. The conference brought together English language teachers, educators, and researchers to exchange ideas, share innovative teaching practices, and explore new approaches to English language education.

Third-year students from the School of Foreign Languages contributed to the conference programme with poster presentations, prepared under the mentorship of Senior Lecturer Jovanka Jovanchevska, MA. Their participation provided a valuable opportunity to present their work, engage with experienced educators, and gain insight into the professional community of English language teaching.

Senior Lecturer Tamara Jolevska Popov, MA, delivered a talk entitled “School of Talk”: Ditch the Syllabus, Unmute the Students, focusing on strategies for increasing student engagement, encouraging active participation, and creating more interactive and student-centred classrooms.

The Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Prof. Dr. Ivana Trajanoska, conducted a creative writing workshop for English language teachers entitled From Minecraft to Manga: Making Creative Writing Fun and Relevant. The workshop explored creative and engaging approaches to teaching writing, drawing on students' interests, popular culture, and contemporary storytelling formats to stimulate imagination and foster creative expression in the English language classroom.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity for professional development, peer learning, the exchange of good practices, and the establishment of new professional connections. It also highlighted the importance of bringing together university students, academics, and practising teachers to strengthen collaboration within the English language teaching community.

University American College Skopje is a longstanding supporter of ELTAM and its conferences, recognizing their important contribution to the professional development of English language teachers in North Macedonia.
